***Review covers Short Pump Location only*** Place was deserted on Sunday at 8:00pm. Usually don't go out that late since close to child's bedtime; don't really know if any restaurant would be crowded this time of night. Greeted well and seated right away. Waitress brought menus and chef turned on the grill in very short order. Waitress immediately brought 3 soups to our table eventhough we hadn't ordered anything yet. For me and my wife it was somewhat safe to deduce that we'd be ordering an entree that included soup; but a 3 year old? Maybe I was only going to eat sushi. After waiting a little longer than would expect for a sushi menu I asked for details on one roll. Waitress had to refer to some notes to decribe it. Asked if we could add a side of steak to our dinner. Completely confused the waitress. Didn't know the price and not on menu. So far dinner wasn't starting out very well. Not the level of service one would expect for the price. Chef didn't do any of the usual fire or showmanship. I've never thought the food at these places was worth the price but at least you get a show. But not here. Maybe it was just bec we were the only ones at the table. Very pleased that Chef was very attentive to child's dairy and egg allergy. Sauces very good. Veggie portion was small. Shrimp was on the line between nicely-charred and burned and was a little salty. Steak was cooked as ordered. Food seemed to be of good quality. When sushi came I got a roll instead of the hand roll I ordered. Took three explanations to clue them in that I didn't get what I ordered. When I placed order it I knew they'd screw it up. Waited a good 5 min to get chopsticks. Not like I asked for something unexpected. Asked waitress for low-sodium soy sauce; waited another 5 min. Then she poured it for me and started to leave with the soy sauce! Dumbfounded. Side of steamed rice same price as fried rice. Side of steak same price as entire child's meal which includes soup, veggies, and salad.
Pros: No wait because it was deserted
