Calvin's is a great place to go when you really want the best for your money. The sales staff there will spend as much time as you need to show you as much as you want and try to help you find the perfect piece. The prices are great--they charge a flat 8% above cost for loose diamonds. I couldn't find a better deal in Austin, and they are actually competitive with prices for online diamonds. Calvin's won't nickel-and-dime you to death--they set the diamond and size the ring for free. They do charge a $50 fee for providing an insurance appraisal, though.
The sales staff has been incredibly accommodating. I bought an engagement ring and wedding band at Calvin's, and my saleswoman, Jacqueline, allowed me a lot of time to look at everything and get comfortable with a decision. Once I made a decision, she did everything she could to speed along the delivery of my ring so that I could ask my girlfriend to marry me on a special date I had planned. She's been extremely helpful even after my purchase, and this is perhaps the most impressive aspect of the customer care at Calvin's. I will gladly return to the store, and to Jacqueline, for any of my future jewelry purchases.
