Review content:
I am surprised at the favorable reviews for Jade - this place is AWFUL. I dined at the restaurant after reading its first review in Time Out. The sushi rolls tasted great, but our main courses were overcooked and nothing special - overpriced for what we got. Jade uses very cheap, low quality cuts of beef for their overpriced Asian beef dishes; Fresco Tortillas and the local Chinese takeout use better cuts of beef than this place - it's offensive that Jade would try to pass this beef as edible. Our waitress seemed confused, inexperienced or intimidated, I don't know which. Your meal will take a couple of hours; drinks arrive slowly, appetizers take forever, and your main course takes even LONGER (and expect one diner to get their dish while the other waits 20 minutes for theirs). Adding insult to injury, a relative of mine ate there and got sick from the food (this site will not let me use the words FP for some reason) - which is enough for me never to return to the place. And I'm not talking about heartburn either, I mean full-blown 24-hour FP. What made it worse was when I overheard someone on the LIRR complaining that his friend got sick (FP) from Jade and begging people not to dine there - this cannot be a coincidence. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, and you will find upscale patrons dining there, but I will never eat there again. I went to their lounge (down the hall from the restaurant) once - the drinks were average but cheap - the lounge is a nice setup but full of Queens/Long Island wannabe-Euro trash types rather than the upscale scene the lounge is capable of - the crowd ruins the atmosphere of the lounge (I know you're thinking, ""what do you expect in Queens anyway"" --- but Forest Hills is the nicest part of Queens, can't we do better than this?). I'd eat just about anyplace else in Forest Hills than Jade, even Fridays (for Thai, try Q Thai). And for, the record, YES, I AM A FOODIE. Pros: decor Cons: the food, the staff, the food, the food
