Review content:
Having never been to Columbia before and having less than 72 hours in the area while visiting a graduating soldier who was terribly homesick for her native food and only 1 day off base, it was a challenge to find a restaurant (with only 5 contenders and no reviews!). Took a chance, after looking online and gathering all the area restaurant addresses. We decided to head to the New Seoul's address. After finding the restaurant out of business, we noticed Korean lettering 2 doors down in a little strip mall. Very unassuming and with time running out, we decided to give it a try. With a fussy Korean mother, we walked in and were greeted by a very charming young Korean man who spoke only English and only a few patrons....which gave us more than a few doubts. : ) We ordered a variety of foods: Grilled mackerel, Dol sot bibim pap, and Kalbi-Korean staples-and hoped for luck. The panchan came out and the kim chee there was top notch. Very appealing to the native and non-native palate. Food followed soon after and we were very pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent, aptly prepared and satisfied both the fussy mother and sister alike. Prices were very reasonable - much less than our home city and all were full and happy after the meal. There is a Korean grocery store 3 doors down as well, if you have any need for home comfort if you have a soldier in the area graduating. All in all...Mission accomplished.
Pros: Authentic Korean dishes
Cons: Unassuming strip mall location.
