Supermac is just a wonderful wonderful place. My sister and I stopped by after reading about it on citysearch, and we consider ourselves avid mac&cheese connoisseurs. The menu is very diverse and interesting -- there aren't merely 15 versions of basically the same thing, as you would think would be the place at a 1-food-themed restaurant -- so we chose a sampling of a few things. We started with the mac & cheese nuggets I think they were called. They were absolutely delicious on their own, but they somehow don't pair right with the ranch or barbeque sauces they give you on the side. We moved on to the Quattro Formaggio and the Angus Burger Mac&Cheese. The Quattro Formaggio was enough to knock us happily onto the floor. I have never tasted something so delicious -- everything from the texture of it, to the freshness of it, to the intricate cheese pairings made me just want to melt. I highly recommend it. We were much more disappointed with the Angus Burger mac & cheese, but the staff was so friendly and eager to please that they whisked it right back and made a fresh batch of a different kind, the Carbonara, which I also recommend. This place is charming, whimsical, innovative, friendly, and delicious. They even offer low fat versions of some of their menu items -- with low fat cheeses and whole wheat pasta -- but if you truly appreciate macaroni and cheese as the quintessential american comfort dish, that won't even be a consideration. The seating area is rather small, and there isn't a bar or a scene or anything like that, but this restaurant shows true reverence to its namesake food and has no pretenses about it. Unfortunately, we sat next to two unhappy-looking girls who ordered the low fat dishes and fancy water, and who we overheard saying ""there's something disgusting about mac & cheese. next time we should just get salads."" If you can't appreciate it, don't bother, but if you can -- Supermac is the place to be.
