My wife and I love to tour the California wine country and one of our favorite areas to visit is the Napa Valley. We had passed the open air Miles Metzger Studios showroom several times before we fianally decided to go in and see what we could see. We were in for a wonderful surprise. Miles was working on a large clay statue, at least eight feet in height, of a police officer guarding a small girl. It was headed to Sparks, Nevada to honor the service of the police force there. The sculpture really depicted the relationship between the officer and the child, marvelous work! His discriptions and insiteful personality were the highlite though. We laughed and were inspired during our entire visit. We ended up ordering a set of his bronze deer and we get to see them everyday when we walk out our front door. Miles' work has a contemporay stylization, but the fact that he so magically brings out the essence of the deer's character, the sculpture actually has the dogs barking at them. Any way, we thank Miles, for just being who he is, and are so pleased with our wonderful sculpture!
