Review content:
While I pass this restaurant often, and there are always lots of cars, I have eaten here for the first time today. I took a friend to lunch, and used a discount coupon. It is on W. Metairie near Clearview
We both got the combo of small salad, half a sandwich and a cup of soup with iced tea. This combo is $10 and the tea about $2. Today's soup was spinach artichoke, a specialty. It was delicious with a strong artichoke flavor. The salad was especially nice with a mix of greens and veggies. I got the house dressing which is a bleu cheese type and it was served on the side in a generous amount and was outstanding. I tried not to use it all, but it was too irrisistible. There is a choice of several breads and fillings for the half sandwich. We both got the chicken salad. It was so much that I ate some of it with a fork, to make the sandwich smaller. The chicken was finely chopped and there was just the right amount of mayonnaise (I hate it drippy) and lettuce and tomato.
Our waitress was very good. She refilled our iced tea appropriately (my pet peeve is running out of tea) and at the end of the meal, brought us a 'go cup'. I realize this helped free up the table, but I did not feel rushed and we were ready to go. Many would be rushing back to work, so having a cold drink to go would be especially nice.
They have an extensive menu of more elaborate sandwiches and salads, as well as hot entrees. The dining room is an extremely nice decor, and the light is just low enough to be comfortable without being dark.
This is a place I look forward to returning to even without a coupon.
