Review content:
I was looking for a computer service to fix a problem on my Netbook and contacted Al Tech in Turlock. My first call resulted in talking to whom I think was the Owner. We discussed the issue I had, locked out of system due to possible virus, and he quoted me two rates to repair the computer which I felt were reasonable. One to get rid of the virus and add anti virus software, another to clean the system and add anti virus software. When I dropped off the computer I was surprised that the technician did nothing more than take down my name, number and what I thought was wrong. No receipt, but I figured it's part of the small town charm. Right. What that indicated was a lack of professionalism. I had to bring in the power cord at a later date, at that time I spoke to the Owner and the necessity to use the original power cord vs a substitute and when the computer would be ready for pick up. Very pleasant individual. I do not consider myself a novice when dealing with computers and take responsibility for not asking the right questions. Using Al Tech is fine if you are very clear on what exactly is being done to your computer. The netbook issue was fixed, but the original software that was on the system was wiped clean, something that Al Tech failed to communicate to myself prior to completion. I was left with a much bigger problem than the virus since the software will have to be purchased and replaced, resulting in hundreds of dollars of cost to myself. BEWARE, ask questions and have them give you something itemizing exactly what service they will be providing. When I contacted the Owner about my computer and the state it was in, he said that if I had the software they would be willing to load it on my computer for me. I suggested that he should have told me prior to wiping my system clean that was what they were doing. I am still angry and dissatisfied with the service and resulting problems I am left to contend with.
