Review content:
We've gone here a number of times since it opened. The Tavern Burger is one of our favorites, a really fantastic burger. Very juicy inside, nicely charred on the outside. Served on a toasted garlic buttered roll. Get it with the onion rings, theirs are the best. Light and crispy batter, and the onions are well done inside so you actually bite through them and don't end up with a chunk of onion sliding out and burning your lip. Their fries are great, too. The crab cakes are very good, my husband usually gets those. I love getting the fried oysters.
What prompted me to write today, though, was the fish and chips!!! OMG - the best fried fish I've had. Very thin exceptionally crispy batter, extremely fresh moist and tender fish inside. Even the tartar sauce is outstanding! Not your typical mayo with dill pickles chopped in it. That's still the basis, but there's something special about this, I think they might add freshly squeezed lemon? Anyhow, I finished that with my fries because I loved it so much!
I wouldn't bother getting the pasta there again, though. The pasta dishes I've been consistently less than thrilled with. Stick to the pub food and you can't go wrong!
Pros: Certain dishes are spectacular
Cons: Music is sometimes too loud
