Review content:
Rented a cabin for July 4th weekend . The pool has been closed for five years. Lake is overgrown,algae-covered bog with signs posted ""No Fishing, No Swimming, No Boating."" No grocery store. Cabin had hole in roof with plastic bag stuffed in to block it, bathroom severely water damaged, with holes in the walls around tub. Cabin smelled, overall condition of ""retreat"" was one of neglect and decay. First night we returned to cabin to find it overrun with waterbugs. Spoke to owners about condition of cabin and infestation. Asked that they spray cabin, or provide insect spray. Owners responded that they had fly swatters in cabin and we could use that. They refused to provide spray. Owner stated they have same problem in bait shop and they are used to them. Owner acknowledged previous occupants had beer party in cabin and they didn't have time to get the smell out before we arrived. No offer to relocate us to another cabin offered. With nowhere else to stay because of holiday, we went to town and purchased insect spray. Second night we returned to cabin to find walls and floor crawling with waterbugs. My daughter jumped onto bed to get away from them on floor, and found the bed also had them on it! After 5 minutes in cabin, and exterminating10 insects we left. Called the number on website to notify them we were forced to leave the cabin due to the infestation and asked for refund. We are supposed to receive refund for third night we did not stay, but no refund is coming for nights we technically ""stayed"" in cabin. Owner claimed she inspected cabin the following day after we left and didn't see signs of Waterbugs and denied there was a problem. Our response was to check the trash can to find the insects we had deposited before leaving. I would caution anyone considering a stay at this ""retreat"" to inspect the facilities first, and to note the overall condition of the bait shop, as this is the same condition you will find the cabins. Unsanitary, run-down campground. Pros: highway frontage, hot water Cons: everything else
