Businiess name:  Aleyda's Mexican Restaurant

Review content:
You know, I was truly hesitant to even leave a review, but I just had to because I couldn't believe what I saw and heard eating there for lunch today. First of all, I have owned a restaurant in the past and am all too familiar with food costs. That being said, I felt the need to put this here so that maybe it would get back to Aleyda's and they may think about what they are doing there. I had never been to a Mexican lunch buffet before so I gave it a shot. The place has all the character of a typical Mexican restaurant with stucco, bright colors and Mariachi music playing on the sound system. Perhaps a bit hokey, yet acceptable.\r \r There was a problem though.\r \r "DON'T WASTE FOOD" signs everywhere. \r \r I could understand maybe one sign when you walked in, creatively written to ask patrons to maybe not pile 10lbs of food on their plates and only eat 3 bites. But there were signs everywhere. What was that food item on the buffet? Chicken burritos with a side of "DON'T WASTE FOOD". Mmmmmm, I'd like to try that Chorizo, potato and eggs, but go easy on the "DON'T WASTE FOOD".\r \r But even though it made me feel like I was 8 again and my Mother was monitoring my food intake, things got worse. Much worse.\r \r An older lady whom I can only imagine as being the owner (Aleyda maybe?) was actually monitoring everyones food intake. I was standing next to a customer that had just filled a small bowl up with fruit salad and she actually said to him "Are you going to eat all that? Fruit is expensive!" I thought I was on Candid Camera.\r \r Ok, I am not a genius or anything but if you have such huge issues with portion control, why would you open a BUFFET?\r \r Anyway, I have never experienced that in my entire life. I can understand a restaurant owner complaining to other employees about waste and food costs, but to actually police your customers? Just close for lunch or get rid of the lunch buffet and stop making a complete fool of yourself. I know I won't be going back there again. I could just imagine if I brought a group of people there and had that happen to them. How embarrassing!
