Review content:
I have to admit, since I go to happy hour at least once a week somewhere in Newport, I have become a little bit of a food and wine snob. Bluewater Grill does not disappoint in either of those categories.
FOOD: My friend and I ordered the Calamari and Tenderloin Tease. They were both amazing. So much so that we ordered the Tenderloin Tease a second time. It melted in my mouth. SIDENOTE: We ordered the same thing at The Bluewater in Irvine and it wasn't nearly as good.
DRINKS: The House Cabernet and Chardonnay were both delicious and the bartender pours a good glass. (It irritates me a bit when the bartender comes out with one of those wine measurers and a huge glass, pours the wine out of the measurer and it looks like I'm ready for a refill). Thankfully they pour a healthy glass of good wine.
SERVICE: The bar staff was attentive and very friendly.
ATMOSPHERE: This is the part where you need to plug your nose when you first walk in. Remember Bluewater is located on the water, which makes their seafood all the fresher, but it also makes it smell like fish. The smell dissipates as the olfactory system readjusts. Give it time. It's worth it. Also, the decor is a throw back to 60's and 70's nautical. It doesn't quite make it charming, but almost.
I will most definitely go back to Bluewater for Happy Hour.
