Our kitchen sink has experienced slow drain on and off in the three years that we have lived in our house. Roto-Rooter did a terrific job on our bathroom shower drain about a year ago. A different plumbing company wanted to charge $600 to rip up the floor and replace our old pipes and even then wasn't sure if that would solve the problem. Plus we would have had to pay someone else to retile the floor so we passed and were delighted with Roto-Rooter's service and expertize. Now on this occassion I thought I was being smart by using so called ""safe for all pipes"" over the counter drain cleaners that you would find at Walmart. After two more days of no progress I finally called Roto-Rooter and they came out on Saturday. First we found out that the so called safe cleaners had melted the rubber around our disposal so that had to be replaced. Then all of the PVC was warped and that had to be replaced also. Jonathon took the time to show us exactly what was going on under the sink, was patient and professional. He needed to bring in a second man to help unclog the drain and so ""grandpa"" came to help. He pointed out the trap at the base of our main drain line, showed us approximately 40 years of buildup and found steel wool that had been shoved down the drain by previous owners. All in all the process took about three and a half hours, cost a little more than we initially expected but understood with the extra work, equipment and manpower. We felt like we got a deal and actually feel confident using our sink again. Finally they gave us a drain treatmnt to use each night for a week to help reduce remaiing grease and gunk. With confidence we can say that RR is the only plumber for us.
