""It was a clear black night, a clear white moon Warren g was on the streets, trying to consume Some skirts for the eve, so I can get some funk Just rollin in my ride, chillin all alone"" I have no idea why I have the lyrics to Regulate in my head this morning but it really has nothing whatsoever to do with my evening at Chez Papa Resto. I woke up with a mild headache this morning but the meal last night was definitely worth it. The decor is a little goth but I love the big windows and the space was perfectly cozy for a cold winter night. If you are on a date I definitely recommend asking for a corner table so you can casually rub knees with your boy without him thinking you were coming on too strong! I wasn't on a date so my dinner partner probably just thought I was crazy bumping into him under the table like that. The menu has a good selection and all the apps sound tasty. We ended up sharing the Foie Gras Duo, Beet Salad and Kobe Tartare. All delicious. The tartare has really great flavors and the meat is so tender. I love seared foie gras but I actually preferred the terrine preparation of the duo. We split the steak frites for our main. They were super nice about splitting everything for us and I think the only complaint from us is that we're not down with our steak being served sliced. Service is what really stands out here. They are attentive without being overbearing. I wasn't planning on drinking and only taking a sip of my friend's wine but they were nice enough to split one wine pour into two glasses so I could have my own...and they were very generous with the pours. All in all I had a great dinner and although I didn't see the bill I'm assuming it wasn't too outrageous since my friend didn't arch his eyebrows and give me a funny look after seeing the final damage. Oh now I know why I think I have Regulate in my head. Even though the Mint Plaza is all nice and spiffy, it still is right plop in the middle of a sketchy hood. As we were leaving dinner a cop was outside the restaurant trying to restrain some girl who wasn't wearing any pants. Pros: foie gras Cons: up and coming neighborhood
