Review content:
Less than 7 months ago, I encountered all the warning signs of a bad rack & pinion steering gear. I'm the original owner of a 1989 BMW and have kept it meticulously maintained, using the same brilliant and seasoned mechanic for all those years until recently relocating to FL. I took my car to Eurotech, knowing exactly what was wrong. Having been a Corporate Mgr with a Fortune 500 Automotive OE supplier, TRW, I know more than most about diagnosing problems, specifically rack & pinion steering gears, as this was one of my major product lines. It took over a week, because they ""kept finding problems"" but told me my r&p steering was not one of them. $4000 later I drove my car home, noticing that I still had the same steering problems. Parked overnight, I found leaking steering fluid. The next day I took my car back, and, lo & behold my r&p bellows are swollen with fluid: all of a sudden that r&p I didn't need was a necessity. Another week of my car in the shop goes by & I get a call from Eurotech: your steering column is broken. I told them it wasn't broken when I drove it in, that they had broken it so they should pay for it. They said, no dice. I said I'd never heard of such a thing happening and they said it happens all the time in FL. My mechanic up north hasn't heard of such a thing, either. But, I'm stuck: they've broken my car & it has to be fixed. Another $2000 - now we're at $6000, more than I've spent in the 21 years I've owned the car! I figure that should last me a while. WRONG!! Today I took my car to a REPUTABLE tire shop and find out that one of the inner ends of my 7-month-old r&p is bad. An inner end breaking after only 1000 miles is not right. Screwed by Eurotech again. I let the seasoned pros at Gator Tire do the repairs this time. Cons: They don't listen to their customers
