Review content:
My daughter has been going to Dr. Lucas for a couple of years, and we have always been very happy with his thoroughness and great ability to interact with children. His office is well-run, and we have never had to wait for more than a few minutes after our appointment time. Tonight, however, we found out not only how good of a dentist, but also what a great person, Dr. Lucas is.
When I picked up my daughter from her after school care at 6 pm on a Friday, she was in tears. She had hit her tooth while trying to climb up a slide and was in so much pain she couldn't stop crying. I called Dr. Lucas' office, expecting to get a recording that would tell me of an emergency dentist I could contact. To my surprise, it had Dr. Lucas' cell phone number for existing patients.
I called and described the situation to him. This was at 6:30 on a Friday night, and even though he was already at home with his wife and newborn child, he offered to meet us at his office. Without his assistants who were obviously no longer in the office, he took x-rays, found a slight fracture of the jaw, stabilized the tooth, and sent us on our way without asking for compensation or even verifying our insurance information. Needless to say, I will call his office Monday morning to make sure he is being compensated for going way beyond the call of duty.
I am sure he would have much rather been with his wife and daughter than to drive back to the office and fix my daughter's tooth, yet they decided that if it were them in our situation, this is what they would hope their dentist would do for them.
I cannot recommend Dr. Lucas enough if you are looking for a pediatric dentist.
Pros: Caring, great with children, well-run office
