Amy Vet, College Instructor, Bird owner for 35 years says I do not know where to begin...most recently (this morning) I went into the pit to buy millet for our birds. I couldn't help but notice a cockatiel (our favs) and went to meet him. So friendly...I look in his dishes and his water has approximately 7 to 10 droppings in it and the water is heavily tinted green couldn?t see the bottom through 1 ? inches of water, it stunk sooo bad. The Food dish? My G-d the food dish! The seed shells were pulverized into powder. When I took the dish out and returned the bird aggressively went for the dish. I demonstrated for the dark haired kid who was also working, I took the dish away and the bird did everything he could to get at it and immediately started digging, hoping someone had added seed. It would take a bird a week or longer to do this in my opinion. I said something to the redhead kid who stated ?I haven?t got to it today, I am about to do it now.? We came back two hours later to buy (save) the bird and the water and seeds were the same. Later he changed his story about having not gotten to it today and lied straight faced to us and in his father?s face stating ?I did it this morning.? I swear to you, this water hadn?t been changed in several days maybe longer, there were no seeds left in the dish only pulverized shell. I showed the owner the disgusting stinking water and pulverized seeds and he promptly said don?t come back here anymore.
