Review content:
Last night, my husband and I went to the M Bar for the second time. We were pleasantly surprised by the jump in quality of what we had seen on our previous visit. Sylvia Brooks, with six musicians, showed what true artistry is all about. Some of the highlights were songs like Lush Life, Feelin' Good, Cry Me a River, and several hot Latin numbers we had never heard before. Ms. Brooks is absolutely gorgeous and an incredible performer. But it was her singing -- it was a revelation. This lady really understands the music, and has surrounded herself with six amazing musicians, and together they remind us of the great days of Duke Ellington, Sinatra, and Sarah Vaughn. But this group is unique in its sound, and Sylvia Brooks is definately her own original. In a time when music is so boring -- everything sounds alike -- what an absolute JOY it was to spend an evening with Sylvia Brooks and her sextette! I strongly urge anyone who loves good music and wants to see a great show to get down to the M Bar. It's a great room, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is eager to please. It's a great evening out!
Cons: The food is good but could be better.
