Review content:
I made an appointment for a skin consultation on laser hair removal a few weeks ago, but not without doing considerable research on laser hair removal first. The waiting room is populated by Botox chubbies (chubby middle-aged women wearing purple ""Botox"" t-shirts decorated with rhinestones) and one extremely fake-looking blonde with orange skin in the waiting room. My consult, Kay (or Gay), made a sales pitch that IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is the latest in hair removal technology and suitable for most skin types. I went home after the consult to do a bit of research--studies in reputable journals show that because IPL is not a laser, it is underpowered compared to laser for the purpose of hair removal, and IPL is dangerous for darker skin types (like mine), and promoted mostly as a sales tactic. The website of this spa says they do offer a laser machine for hair removal, with a wavelength that is suitable for my skin type. I went back to the spa and requested they use a laser instead of the IPL on me because I had done laser before with favorable results.
Pros: State medical license in order, offers a range of services
Cons: Poor service, inaptitude, snobbishness, inexpertise
