Review content:
I have to be honest, I'm a bit of a food and service snob, having worked in the restaurant industry for quite awhile, so this review might seem a bit... nit picky. If I was eating out at an average casual restaurant, I wouldn't think twice about most of this stuff. BUT... if I'm going to go to a restaurant and pay $40 for a single steak, plus $7 to $12 for each additional side, plus $10 to $16 for a decent glass of wine, then my server better be on point. The food was excellent, and our server was very friendly and was putting forth a solid effort. I believe the fault here lies much in lack of training on the restaurant's behalf. Like I said, if you're gonna charge THAT MUCH, which I'm willing to pay, then the service better be damn good. It started with the greeting which included the word ""folks"", then she proceeded to lean on our table as she spoke and fill her descriptions with ""um."" These aren't good no matter where you dine, but at a place like this... clean it up. I'm sorry, I can't help it, I notice these things because I make a living off of not doing them. Anyway, dinner was great and her service was prompt. She then clearly started getting very busy, which is fine and happens, though our dessert course suffered. I ordered a drink, she said ok, then came back 10 minutes later to say they didn't have that liquor. I ordered something else, same thing, 10 minutes later. Then, to save time and because my dessert had already arrived, I asked for any tawny port, which I knew they had plenty of. I ended up receiving a glass of dessert wine which she called port when she set it down. It was definitely far from tawny, and even farther from a port. Mistakes happens, nobody is perfect, but thats like ordering steak and getting chicken. KNOW YOUR MENU. Isn't that kind of a no brainer? So basically, the food was great and I would definitely go back, and perhaps this particular server was an exception. Its just too bad it had to be at my table. Pros: Awesome food, polite service, timely. Cons: Inexperienced servers who need much more training.
