Review content:
My fiancee and I went and saw a home to rent from Boardwalk. Tom showed us the home and made a big deal about how they accept the first tenant and do not do bidding wars between perspective renters. Later, we went back for a second showing. Spenser was supposed to show it to us, but was over a half hour late. Fortunately the owner Karen came home while we were waiting and showed us the home. The next morning we called both Karen (the owner) and Spenser (rental agent) and said we wanted to lease the house and was told great, they will get a contract together for us. Later that afternoon, we got a phone call from Boardwalk saying someone else was interested in the property and that they would lease it to us if we would pay $150 a month above the asking price. I asked if it was a bidding war and was told, ""yes, it's now in a bidding war."" I called Karen, the owner of the home, to ask what was going on. She said that after we called and had agreed to lease the home, Spenser called and said he had someone else who wanted to see the property. Karen said she had already agreed to lease to us but Spenser encouraged her to show the house anyway ""In case they have better credit"". This was a bit upsetting as the Boardwalk employees, Spenser and Tom lied in both their verbal acceptance saying we had the home (only to later encourage the owner to show the house to get multiple lease offers) and again by creating a bidding war when they very specifically promoted up front that is not what they do. Obviously we are just going to lease from someone else, we can't in good faith do business with Boardwalk (well that and they leased it to the other bidder). Just beware, this company has no integrity, you can't trust what they say.
