Review content:
At first I was impressed with the attention and politeness of the staff at Carl's Equipment of Riverhead. In the end it was just to make the sale. After making a sizeable purchase on a mower I feel the courtesy and personality was gone.
I had my mower for one week. I used it once. The mower had a problem where the blade was hitting the underside side wall of the mower deck. I assumed it was the mower blade so I simply ordered a new set of blades. ( If I ordered the blades myself I would have saved $15 by the way. )
Took said mower apart and put the nice brand new blades on. After spinning the blade a half turn I discovered hmmm it is still hitting the deck. Looking closely at the spindel shaft assembly on the top side of the deck I discovered one side bent out of line.
Now I am sorry but one mow of my lawn should not have bent a shaft. Called Carl's equipment and they do not want to hear anything about nothing. The response was it is like buying a car and driving it off of a lot.
My response is simple. If I purchased this product at Home Depot or some other REPUTABLE dealer this problem would not be an issue. Not having a return policy other than we have no returns is not a realistic solution for people who are paying alot of money for equipment. The rudeness of the staff in explaining their non return policy might even be described as defensive.
A Letter has been written to the mower manufacturer and a claim will be filed in small claims court against Carls Equipment. Overall, LESSON LEARNED, furture purchases will be made at Home Depot, Lowes, Or Amazon
