Review content:
We may need to give Mesa Ranch a 2nd chance as other reviews have been very positive. Or experience, however, was average at best. For context, we discovered Mesa Ranch while walking to Mirabelle. In fairness, it was the very 1st night they were open to the public. The owners seemed charming. The Texas/western atmosphere was well-done (although possibly a bit ""North Dallas for my taste""). While I like spicy food, the stuffed pepper appetizer was off-the-charts hot (despite assurances from the wait-staff that it would be mild). My seared taste-buds had trouble recovering but as I recall the rest of the meal seemed average . not great. The wait for our food was extra-long. Maybe these were first-night kinks and Mesa Ranch has gotten better with time.
Pros: menu, warm atmosphere
Cons: slow food, too spicy, contrived environment
