Review content:
The work week had ended and a friend and myself thought it time to try Ciao Bella. The restaurant is quiet with an old fashioned feel. We began with the Calimari appetizer and we were plesantly surprised! Many establishments prepare gooey and greasy fare. Ours was crisp, flavorful and we got a kick out of it. The salads were somewhat typical but prepared well with a solid Bleu cheese. From there we ordered steaks. We were not sure of our decision. The restaurant is known for their Italian dishes and they were tempting! That night they were featuring a Filet Mignon with Bleu cheese crumbles and sauteed mushrooms. The Filet was ordered well done, which usually can be disasterous. To my surprise the filet was well done and fork tender and was accompanied with mashed potatoes and baked green beans. Everything was well seasoned with fresh garlic and I believe this was the key.The best steak I have had in decades, tender, juicy and flavorful! The service was prompt and helpful. Ciao Bella is still an uncovered gem in downtown Modesto. Check it out!
Pros: Great food and value
Cons: not busy and could boost the ambience
