Review content:
I first went to Wine Lovers when it opened maybe seven or eight years ago. It was a little coffee shop before this. The previous owner had a very eccentric taste in decor but it works well here. At first it was a very quiet place that was good for a glass of wine and someone to have a conversation with. They added a big patio with fireplaces out back which was a good idea but the place really took off when they started cooking pizza in the fireplace on Wednesday night. At some point they started having live music on weekends and as of a few years ago it was wildly popular and nearly always packed. A short time ago, the place got a new owner and apparently most or all of the old staff was let go. I went there a couple of weeks ago and things were quite different. The decor is all the same but the crowd, which was once trendy young folks is now obnoxious, middle aged saps trying to look trendy and young. The band was playing, they were accually pretty good, and even though there is no dance floor, a couple of drunk swingers were doing their best to bump into everyone around them. I walked up to the bar but the girl working was much too busy looking hot to pay any attention to the customers. After 15 or 20 minutes the swingers stopped dancing and plowed into me at the bar. I still hadn't been served. I tried sitting at a table, like maybe a waitress would get me a glass of wine. It never happened. I watched the band for close to an hour but no wine, the waitress was also very busy doing anything but serving drinks. A look around revieled that everyone, really, everyone had an empty glass or none at all, the same was true at the bar. This is still a cool place but it looks like the new owner has some staff issues to deal with. Pros: Cool looking, good music. Cons: Clueless new staff.
