first of all i want to begin by saying i understand that an er is worst cases served first.when i ariived at lnrm i could barely walk in due to severe back pain.my husband was practically carrying me. there was a woman at the desk who just watched us with no offer of getting a wheelchair.there were only 2 other people in the waiting room.i arrived at 8:45.we went and did the routine blood pressure temperature pain scale thing and i told the lady my pain on a scale of 1 to 10 was past 10...undescribeable.we waited until 10:00 am to get to a room where they took my insurance(medicaid) and said the doctor would be in soon.he finally arrived about 11:15,checked my breathing and said he would send someone in with pain medication and order an mri.no one came until at 12:00pm i pushed the call button and asked for pain relief.by this time im in tears from pain and humiliation from being treated as a lesser person. a nurse comes in with my discharge papers and a scipt for tramadol which makes me sick to my stomach.as i told her this she snipped""i thought you werent allergic to anything""im not allergic. nausea is a side affect not an allergic reaction.something she should know.i asked her what happened to the mri i was supposed to get?she looked lost like she had no idea what i was talking about.by this time i was so angry from being in pain i went off.i threw the papers across the room and told her to forget it.i got dressed with the help of my husband and struggled walking out.again no offer of a wheelchair.my husband went into the waiting room as we went out and told everyone in it of my disgusting experience and wished them all luck with the incompetency they were about to face.one woman waiting was actually moved to tears for me.this is not the first time ive been a direct victim of this nor witness of it.again i stress that i know there are bad cases that come in and i dont want or expect to have a red carpet rolled out for me.i could have waited all day if i only got some relief of my horrific, crippling pain.i am sick to my stomach that this goes on so much in this place and no one is holding them to any standards.ona ahappier note i proceeded to presbyterian hospital in huntersville and i cannot praise them enough.they went above and beyond anything i could have ever hoped for.they not only had efficiency and speed but most important they had compassion and actually listened and responded to my needs without feeling like i was a burden.they relieved my pain and were very thorough in there explanations and referals to specialists.i dont know there names but whoever was on duty that morning at presbyterian(dec. 7th)God bless you everyday and thank you. i will NEVER grace the doors of lake norman regional again.neither will my family.something needs to be done .hopefully before anyone gets hurt or dies.might be a good idea to up there malpractice insurance.
