... of upscale and trendy restaurants I've ever been to my entire life. Perhaps my sister and I were expecting a bit too much, as Lucques happens to be one of the best. I've heard somewhere that this has a sensual interior, but I don't know, the color beige can never be sensual to me. The server was proficient enough, but she was quite annoyed that we chose to order the tapas in stages. Only two stages by the way, so I don't think that was too much to ask for, was it? We were served black Morrocan-type olives and some smokey pimiento paste with the bread as we were seated. I thought the quality of the pepper paste was an odd choice to serve, as even though it is of very good quality, but I would prefer to use it for cooking, not as an appetizer course, as it does nothing to open your appetite. Did not opt to order the cold-cuts and cheeses, as we serve that at home almost everyday for tapas/meze/antipasto, so we first orderd the crostini with chicken livers, and it was the worst liver dish I've ever had. It was a bit too bitter which means it was probably overcooked before turning it into a paste, and I think they let it sit-out a bit too long. Also ordered the pork rilletes, and that was a big disappointment as well. It was almost tasteless, and the cornichons nor the pickled onions did little to make it interesting. We ordered many more dishes, and most were either worse or so, so. I think the only dishes we liked were the scallops in crimson orange (this site will not let me write the actual name of the orange) which turned out perfectly done and succulent, but I thought the squash that went in the dish distracted the flavor of the first two ingredients. Sweetbreads was good, too, but not one of those that you would say to yourself that you want to go back for that dish or to reminisce over it. later. We did not bother to order dessert, as we were afraid of further being extremely disappointed. Never going back. Pros: Fast Service Cons: Everything Else
