Review content:
Spotted Pony Espresso opened up across the street from my office. I had been eying the signage for weeks, longing for a chance to get some espresso during the work week and escape my drip coffee routine. I noticed the balloons and lit signs and knew today was my chance. I wasn't expecting much, and honestly just wanted my caffeine fix. My mind was blown. I ordered a Mocha Breve with an extra shot. The espresso was FANTASTIC. Perfectly roasted. None of that borderline burned taste you get from certain major chains. The temperature was PERFECT. I could drink it right away. I didn't have to let it sit for a few minute so as not to singe my tongue. The chocolate was not overpowering, but a pleasant compliment to the espresso. Once it was finished, the girl asked me to taste it, and offered to remake it if I didn't like it. But it was excellent. The staff was very friendly and nice. I don't usually get pastries from coffee shops, but according to the little sign next to the case, today was Free Cookie Day. (How lucky was that?!) The owner told me to take two, so I happily obliged. The chocolate chocolate chip was a good cookie, but nothing to write home about. Not too dry, not too crumbly, not too sweet. Just good. I don't know if I'd buy it. The Oatmeal cookie, though, was excellent. The perfect blend of spice, raisins, walnuts, oats. It's wasn't doughy or sticky, but wasn't so dry it fell apart. It seems that most of the time oatmeal cookies are either not sweet enough, or overcompensating for their lack of chocolate chips. Not so with this cookie. I will happily buy an oatmeal cookie next time I stop in.
