Review content:
On 10/06/11, Jared of Precision Door came as our garage door opener was making a sqeaking noise, but otherwise working fine. I was told the service call was $80 and covers assessment/some maintenance. After lubricating the sprocket, the door quieted. Jared said the sprocket was grinding/wearing down bcuz the spring needed to be replaced. He could replace it for $300. After taking it apart, he stated the bearings were bad & also needed replacing. Jared said if we didn't replace the bearings, it could cut through the hollow steel bar and the door could fall at anytime causing injury. Jared offered a package deal for $599 covering the spring, bearings & rollers with a lifetime warranty. Shocked a 5 year old door needed major repairs, I contacted the original installer, Overhead Door of Indianapolis, to inquire of their warranty. The door was out of warranty but they would replace the spring for $125 and bearings for $25, & the service rep told me if bearings were bad the door would jump all over (which wasn't happening). I felt like I was being sold both products and services that were not necessary. I asked them to put the door back as found and I would need nothing further. Jared was argumentative and continued to pressure me, now offering 2 springs for $200. I was not comfortable doing business with them and then Jared wanted to charge me $89 for adjusting the spring -5 min of work- (which he claimed was broken) and $80 for a service call. On 10/10/11, David from Overhead Door, came to replace the spring. However, upon inspection, David determined the spring was not broken, bearings did not need replacing and the sprocket was not worn. David made a few minor adjustments for a total charge of $59.95. He also indicated he could replace the entire door with tax & insatllation for $650. I believe Jared/Precision engaged in deceptive practices and fraud by attempting to pressure me into buying parts and services which were not necessary. If I could select NO stars, I would have done that!\r
