Businiess name:  Baldassin Pianos

Review content:
After an interstate move and a few months settling in, my piano was in serious need of a tuning and some maintenance work (sticking keys). I contacted Baldassin Pianos on the advice of a music professional and had high expectations since I trusted the referring party. The technician spent THREE HOURS tuning the piano and ""fixing"" the sticky keys. In the process he arrived without sufficient tools and had to borrow some of mine, and broke one of the hammers and had to replace it. $258 and a few days later, one of the keys that was supposedly fixed would no longer depress. I called Baldassin Pianos back and asked that they fix this gratis, with a different technician. Two days later the same technician called me to arrange for a second visit to fix the non-functioning key. After another half hour of work he told me I was good to go. But I didn't trust that the problem was solved and played the problem key repeatedly until it locked up again. He was about to leave without testing to see if he had solved the problem! After showing him this, he took the piano apart again to try a different fix. This one worked--for one day. The very next day, three keys in a different register began to stick when depressed. By this time I had given up on Baldassin Pianos, and decided to try to solve the problem myself. After removing the endblocks and the keyslip, the piano played perfectly. The problem was a warped keyslip, which took me less than a minute to determine on my own. I most definitely would NOT recommend this company. To their credit, the tuning was fine (but took far too long) and they did return to ""fix"" the problem they created without charging me, but the repair work was incompetent and, ultimately, quickly fixed by a non-professional.
