Outback Steakhouse has always been my family's favorite restaurant. My nieces and nephews would always greet ""hello mate"" with their aussie accent to every server and host they see.
Tuesday, Mar. 22, 2011, my sister from out-of-state and I decided to pick up my 2 nieces (age 5, 12) and 2 nephews (age 3, 9) to spend quality time while she was in town.
Me, my 6month old baby, sister Melissa, brother Ben, and 4 nieces and nephews ( 12, 9, 5, 3) dined at Outback.
We enjoyed our family time at the restaurant very much.
Our server David R. on the other hand was by far the worst I've met. I ordered a pina colada, which he brought me a berry drink that looks and tastes like strawberry daquirie. When I asked, he responded "" this is a pina colada with berry flavoring. He seem annoyed when I told him "" is it alright if I get the regular pina colada with pineapple and coconut instead"".
Melissa and I was still full from a late lunch so we ordered 2 orders k wings and a blooming onion. Ben got a Prime rib, and the 4 kids shared 2 shrimp pastas. David, our server, wasn't happy. He kept insisting that the 3yr old, and 5 yr old needed their own plate.
After dessert, we got the bill.
We were charged 18% gratuity (almost $17). I'm use to dining with my big family so we paid. But I thought, we only had 3 adults and 4 children that dined. So I decided to ask David.
David responded, my 6 month old, whom stayed in her car seat the whole time and did not eat anything or drink anything of Outbacks was counted as an 8th person, therefore gratuity was automatically added. I was stunned.
David also added ""ma'am, the manager makes the rules, I don't. Do you wanna talk to him""? I said"" yes, actually I do, I have questions I'd like to ask him.""
After 10 minutes, David came out and said"" can I see your card"" , I gave it to him, he walked away, he came back with a new receipt, I signed and tipped $12, he took the slip (not saying one word and walked away).
I didn't now what to say and I don't understand why David was upset. I would of accepted the charge had it been correct.
I am in the service industry too and I know picky customers, but I am not.
David was not professional, not understanding, and unreasonable with a very disgusting attitude.
