Review content:
The lake was beautiful, the weather perfect, the people at the boat rental were mostly quiet, but pleasant. However, here is why we left with a bad taste in our mouths and won't be back. First, the pontoon we rented was a little underwhelming. Having rented pontoons before, I was expecting something a little newer and more comfortable. The pontoons at CrossWinds are more like a 1970's public school bus. Not very comfortable and if you are trying to impress friends or a date, thiese are not the boats. My biggest problem though was with management. I purchased 3 kids fishing poles, bait, hooks for about $64.00. Got out on the lake and none of them worked worth a darn. My kids were wholly disappointed. I have been fishing my whole life and these were basically non-functioning junk. When I brought them back in, the lady told me they had a sign stating that the customer must make sure the product works before purchasing....can you imagine that? I guess I was suppose to cast a line right there in their tiny store to confirm the product they were selling actually worked. Very poor and myopic comment on her part, because we won't be back. I am regularly amazed how some establishments stay in business when they don't understand the most basic fair practices or common decency. This is what happens when one entity gets a monopoly.... Pros: Beautiful lake Cons: Very expensive rental fees, old boats, non-functioning equipment (fishing poles)
