Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! For anyone who is a foodie, please do not waste your money. I regret having gone for Mother's Day and would NEVER consider going again. Although the setting is quaint, the furniture is dated and old looking and the service was hardly worth noting except that the hostess was rude and visibly very stressed. If someone cannot deal well with stress, certianly do not put her to deal with customers!! The food here was mediocre and insultingly overpriced. The wine menu was also astonishingly expensive with most glasses of wine between $10-$15 where they would be easily a few dollars less in nice restaurants in Los Angeles. The mushroom strudel was greasy and tough, not crisp and light as pastry dough should be. The mushrooms bland. My grilled Halibut salad looked like something anyone could have made at home and the steak was hacked into four pathetic pieces on top of raw yellow bell peppers and covered in dressing that was overwhelmingly garlicky. The Elk, a new addition to the menu, was poorly cooked (raw and stringy) and swimming in sickly sweet sauce. When we complained to the waitress, she was nice enough to apologize profusely and remove it from our bill. We did find it interesting, though, that she decided to reveal to us that she had already received a complaint about it earlier. Very bad form! This over-priced and out-dated restaurant should be ashamed of themselves for making people pay so much for such mediocre food and for placing someone so high-strung at the door ""greeting"" guests as they arrive. Shame on you.
Pros: Ambience - but go at night - you'll see less of the dated furniture and dingyness. Candlelight fixes so much.
Cons: Terrible food. Insultingly overpriced for what it is. Hostess withOUT the mostess.
