As a local, I get a lot of family members coming to visit so they can see DC. When I'm planning their tours, I make sure that one of the first things we do is go on a nighttime tour of the monuments. The Lincoln, Jefferson, FDR, and (espescially) the Vietnam Wall are beautifully moving any time, but at night they are especially beautiful when they are lit up after dark. Make sure you stop to take in the view from the top step of the Lincoln-- that's the view that always makes me stop and think how cool it is that I LIVE HERE!
