Review content:
Pesce serves up some of the tastiest and most creative small plates (Italian) that I've seen. Best of all, given the size of the small plates (larger than many other places) and the execution, the prices are reasonable (each of us paid $30, including tax, tip, and wine, and walked away full). I would definitely go back (wish it was in my neighborhood) and would definitely recommend you go.
We had crab cakes, lamb shanks, English peas with bacon and carmelized onions, and a smoked fish platter, but the standouts were the olive gnochi with rock shrimp and the dungeness crab on top of a crisy risotto pancake. Get those last two!
Desserts were fine but not outstanding. The best was strawberries with zabaglione and sweet balsamic vinegar.
Service is efficient, not over-friendly, not overbearing. The restaurant is a little loud, and tables are on the small side.
