Review content:
My family's experience with the probation department concerning a son with mental issues has been very poor. We have been told there are no lock up type programs for the mentally ill in the state of Ohio. We have tried to baker act this son and haven't been able to due to nothing in Ohio laws for this type of problem. Prison is the answer to the probation depts instead of trying to make sure the mentally ill under their supervision are getting proper care and help. Surely the probation dept could do more to help the persons under their supervision when the families are willing to do whatever they can to help. We have already found that while this son was in Prison for 10mos a few years ago for non-support (due to his illness) that the prison authorities did not make sure he got his mental health meds and family members were constantly having to complain about this issue in order for him to get them. Pros: We need depts like this. Cons: They need to be better educated to the mentally ill.
