OK I'm biased. I get to come to Tahoe once every month or two, and after a somewhat long drive from the Bay area, I most often make my first stop at Passaretti's for wine & dinner. Since I am so frequent I've gotten on a first name basis with Dan, Tai, Donna, Judy, & all of the staff. Their frendliness has been there from the start though, and is consistent. I do have to plug their Calamari Almondine as my favorite. It is one of three Calamari steak strip varieties that they offer. I haven't been dissappointed by anything on the menu. It is not super fancy, but clean and relaxed. I highly recommend that you give it a shot and see if it's your style. Those that rip it for poor service sound like they just hit it on very busy nights and aren't accustomed to vacation town restaurants, where the crowds appear and dissappear in a way most such places cannot predict.
