We made a great deal through the ""internet department"" of Maroone Honda Hollywood. We got the price we wanted on a Honda Civic. We were encouraged to come in to sign papers. That's when the nightmare began. As soon as we got to the dealership, the sales and financing staff threw every sleazy dealer tactic at us that I've ever heard of. We had done our own research, so we had answers for everything. First, they tried to tell us that being self-employed wouldn't work, because Honda was a ""stickler"" w/financing. We responded that our credit was excellent. Then, they said we didn't have enough credit. When we pointed out that we had had established credit for over 5 years with a good available credit/debt ratio, they ""realized"" they had misread the sheet, and went back to check rates again. They came back with a horrible offer, longer loan term than we wanted and 1000's more down. They gave us the ""first time car buyers"" routine. We wouldn't budge, so they dropped the atrocious APR by 2 percent. We then asked if they could do our loan term. They said yes, but the APR would be the same. We wouldn't take it and walked out, the man said ""well good luck because you're not ever going to get a better rate."" Pros: Pretty good selection, willing to go low on car prices Cons: Horrible ""good cop, bad cop"" routine, rudest finance manager we've ever met, shady financing add-ons
