Shroyer Road Baptist Church Pastor Ken Damon 508 Shroyer Road Dayton Ohio, 45419 937-298-9531 If you're looking for a small, comfortable community within which to worship, with meaningful commitment to the teachings of Jesus Christ, then come home to Shroyer Road Baptist Church. Shroyer Road Baptist Church doesn't have a formal mission statement. Instead the mission of the church is defined by what they have chosen to be: A Christ-centered, compassionate community, extending the power of God's Love and Word to all people. The church's founding dates back to 1882 when about thirty people came together and organized The Second German Baptist Church of Dayton. They dedicated their church building on East Fourth Street in 1883. This church was one of the founders of Miami Valley Hospital in 1888. After beginning a transition from German to English, the church was renamed the Fourth Street Baptist Church in 1918. For the first time in 1931 the church conducted its entire ministry in English. The first service in the new building on Shroyer Road was conducted on Easter of 1951. The educational wing of the building was dedicated January 17, 1960. A youth center was opened in 1961 to provide recreation and fellowship once a week for local youth. Regular weekly Bible study was renewed in 1985 and a Macedonia Ministries weekend helped stir the entire congregation. Pastor Ken Damon began his ministry here in 1994. Since then the church has gradually sought to deepen its spiritual life, and to transition itself to be better able to reach a new generation of spiritually hungry people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pros: A Christ-centered compassionate community
