I went to Autoworks because of other reviews. I thought that the owner Ken was honest until I dealt with him and found out otherwise. I'm in the automotive field (bodywork) so I assumed that I would get a good job done. I needed a timing chain on my explorer, which the motor had to come out to do it. I dont have the tools or experience to do that kind of a job. I was told by ken that I was better off saving the motor and it would cost $1700. I had no problem with that. I find out later that the cam was no good. Instead of checking the motor first like I asked him to do, he pulls the engine out than checks it. Had he checked first, my cost would have been minimal and I would have taken the truck back and put the motor in myself. Now I got stuck letting him install the motor for additional money. After he finished the job I paid him only to find out he dented my fender but said he wasnt going to deduct it from his bill because he had extra work to do. He said he had to change the injectors from my motor to the used engine he installed. I really dont know if he did or didnt. What I do know is that it wasnt the same cost of the bodywork which was $600 because I checked with two other mechanics and was told labor for the switch and new o rings are 3.8 hours. At his labor rate it wasnt $600. As I drove home I also noticed my air conditioner wasnt working. They disconnected it and let the freon out. Another $130 job that he refused to take care of. He said I can fill it for $20 so whats the big deal. My problem was that he didnt give me any discount on his labor but he wanted me to give him the freon at cost with no labor. The next day I went to work and noticed the motor was making a ticking noise. I got back to my house and seen a big oil spill on my new block driveway. I called Ken up and he never even apologized for the fact that he didnt check the motor before he gave it back. There was a leak from the oil pan which I had to fix He said he was not responsible for it since I got the motor. In his defense, he wasnt responsible, but you check the car then tell the customer and let them decide if they want to take care of it or pay you extra to repair it. A few days later I also noticed the cargo shade in my truck was missing. Did someone there take it or did he leave my door unlocked when it was parked outside leaving it open to theft, I dont know. I never called Ken back to tell him it was missing because he would have only deny that it happened there. I only know for a fact it didnt disappear when I had it because it sat in the lot where I work locked before I fixed the oil pan and I kept the keys on me at all times so no one had access to the truck. We have camera security at the shop where I work. I had a body shop for 24 years and would never do to someone what he did to me. Sometimes people think they got a good job done because they dont realize they got screwed. Go to Autoworks at your own risk. Cons: Very bad customer treatment
