Review content:
Mimosa has an upscale, contemporary setting overlooking the square, with plenty of window seating and available outside seating. Despite it's modern contemporary decor, they play classic jazz more akin to a stuffy steak restaurant. Service is inconsistent and choppy, not as trained and consistent as other upscale dining establishments, including chains or independents. For example, no napkins were at the table I was seated at, which should be 101 for any restaurant, not to mention an upscale restaurant. To make matters worse, the server did not offer any napkins despite the fact that they were clearly missing. The waiter choppily worked his way through the ordering process, taking 10 minutes to bring drinks, another 10 minutes to order. Food was not served until an hour into the dinner. My order was taken incorrectly and I received Rotisserie Chicken instead of Rotisserie Chicken Fettuccine (the server should have been particularly aware of the potential confusion given the similar names). The chicken was bland and dry. The appetizer was uninspired. The preparation was good (side of raspberries and asparagus), but preparation is secondary to taste. For $50 a person for just an appetizer, entree, and glass of wine, it is a below average value. Relative to other upscale dining establishments, this was below average service and food as well, thus two stars overall relative to other similar restaurants.
Pros: Ambience, decor, wine selection
Cons: Value, service, taste
