My 13-year-old has sensory processing issues that make him overly sensitive to pain, had never had teeth extracted before, and was very nervous (revving up to frightened). The minute the dentist heard that he likes cats, he asked Nancy to come in and assist -- and my son and Nancy were instant friends based on a mutual interest in cat books.
