THE WORST MOVERS. The only reason I had hired movers is because I thought it would take the hassle otu of moving into my new home and take less time than if I were to do it myself. Boy, was I wrong. Here's what happened throughout the day: the 2 men were supposed to arrive at my apartment between 8-9am. I got a call at around 9:30 saying they were outside.....at the WRONG address. After finally getting to my apartment to look around the move ""began"" around 10. It's great that they decide to wrap everything, but not when it takes 3 times longer and they are wrapping wooden boards and plastic items that i told them didn't need to be wrapped. The couch was an even bigger issue - somehow in one try the couch company got it in with no problem, but the movers COULD NOT figure it out. They tried for about half an hour and then decided to remove the door and one of the feet of the couch. The finally get it through, only managing to lose 1 piece of another foot. My boyfriend and I were also making multiple trips to our cars to help speed up the process with him even making trips to the new house. Good thing we decided to do that, because we wouldn't want to have to interrupt mr. mover during his constant cigarette breaks to do his job. I was quoted a one bedroom would take approximately 3 hours (loading AND unloading), so after about 4 hours I decided to ask how much longer it was going to be until the truck was finally LOADED. I was told about 10min so I finished my stuff around the apartment to get ready to head out and call for backup. Leaving about 10min after the movers had headed out to my new place (and giving them SPECIFIC instructions/directions) I show up to the house and they are nowhere in sight. After unloading my entire car I see them finally drive by...and down the block they went. Then they come back around, only to drive off down the other block. Then around and around they go for 15min until they finally pull into the alley I told them to go to in the first place. Luckily, I had my parents and sister there to help because we just unloaded the truck for them (one of them casually bringing things in - my dad and boyfriend using the dolly, heaven forbit they should use their own equipment- while the other one hung out in the truck folding furniture pads). After ""finishing the job"", it became time to pay and my sister decided to take care of it for me (I am no good with money). She called the owner and what a surprise, he stood behind his crew and wouldn't budge a bit. He said that these guys had been with him forever and are great workers. So even if we did get the worst ones, we still know that the owner thinks shitty workers are amazing - even when we told him that my family unloaded the ENTIRE truck and that my sister had movers out of a two bedroom, no elevator, on the top floor, and she got everything finished in THREE HOURS (obviously not the same company). So after 6 hours and $500 later I can honestly say that I would have rather done it myself. This was the worst decision I could have ever made. They also broke my boyfriend record player and vase. So much for wrapping everything
