Review content:
This place has the potential to be something special but unless there is a drastic change in staff - it's not going to happen. Following my visit last night I told my husband I was going to do the only thing I can do to truly make an impact following a visit like this. He said, ""Write a review?"". You got it!
This was my second visit. There will not be a third. I do not know a lot about wines but have been to a few tastings. Our evening started when our the cool staff member (cool meaning ""stuck up"" not hip!) when out of her way to correct me when I mispronounced the name of a wine. Fortunately, I was only with two co-workers at the time and I laughed it off after she left but this would have been horribly embarrassing if she would have corrected me in the manner she did following the arrival of my boss and the rest of my office (we were there for a going away party).
With three of us waiting for the others to arrive, we were looking over the menu when I asked ""What is the soup of the day?"". She told me she would tell me once the rest of the group arrived. I attempted to ask another question regarding the menu but it was clear she did want to repeat herself. After we told her our co-workers were arriving at staggered times due to obligations in closing the office, she did provide the soup of the day.
I am usually patient and understanding with wait staff. I know they have a tough job. I did remain calm but was so angry. Should I have been with friends and not co-workers I would have left.
When I left to pay, they added $5 cover charge for a band. There was no advance notice of this. She also charged some in our group 18% gratuity for being a group of more than 6 but did not charge others in our group. We all maintained separate checks as this was the only way they offered for groups unless one person wanted to cover the whole bill.
The first visit was months ago with two out of town friends who love wine. We did the tasting which went ok but left when they informed us they were short-handed in the kitchen. We had planned to eat lunch.
The pros - the soup - a tomato, chickpea and pumpkin blend was unique and delicious.
Too bad I will never return following the horrible service.
Pros: Beautiful location
Cons: Staff
