7/27/06 Went for lunch. As I walked in it took my senses a while to adjust to the dark and unfriendly atmosphere. Deep dark mahogany stained wood is prominent throughout the bar and restaurant. The tables are nicely appointed, and the chairs are comfortable. Ordered the potstickers, $5.95. They were large and wrapped in a very thick wrapper. The bottoms were nicely browned, but they were too doughy. The filling was dense and fatty which detracted from whatever little spice there was in the pork. More ginger and other spices would help out a lot here. The entrees were each $10.95. The Hunan beef serving was a huge portion of meat, and I specially ordered extra vegetables with it for an extra $2.00 charge. I asked for celery, onions, broccoli, chestnuts, and mushrooms. I would have preferred the celery to be cut in smaller chunks. The sauce needed to be more plentiful and thicker. I was happy with the beef, for it was tasty and most pieces were tender. The black bean prawns was not as huge in portion, and the sauce was definately right on par, and the onions and green peppers were crisp and fresh. Be sure to ask for little or no garlic, but since I love garlic it was fine for me. Pros: Value, lunch special Cons: potstickers, atmosphere, service
