Review content:
Ren fest was fun again this year. Unfortunately they took the Nun Show off the schedule, which was hilarious, but they added a new performer, Saffron Finch, who did a very entertaining vaudeville-esque act, although in a BLUE costume. The joust looked good and the pirate stunt show was a mayhem attempt at a Romeo and Juliet parody. If you're late, it probably won't make sense. Skull and Bones Swordsmen seemed especially short and dopey this year, but I think they are replaced by real swordsmen after the first weekend, and the belly dancers were pretty good. Food was ok, especially the soup and bread bowls where you actually get a decent quantity of food for your $5. Apple dumplings were small but very satisfying. Some of the crafters were fabulous- one place was selling some very nice fantasy artwork prints and my favourite jewelry store, Uncommon Adornments, was there again.
Pros: lots of folks in costumes, the multitude of shows don't cost extra, crafters, lots of music
Cons: tiny crowded portapotties, admission price unless youhave a discount
