If you are ever in Santa Cruz near Safeway on Morrissey Blvd and Water Street, you must stop by Tacos Morenos. I stopped by last week for a quick lunch and I could not believe how fresh and juicy the Burrito Al Pastor tasted! It is a little whole in the wall but it has people lined up down Water Street around the corner at the donut shop. I called ahead of time so I did not have to wait in line and as soon as I walked in the door I could smell the amazing aroma of authentic mexican food. No Americanized garbage here! The salsa is so unique and very tasty. For a mere $5.00 I had an incredible meal of barbeque pork with cabbage, tomatoes, salsa, beans on a homemade tortilla. MMMMMMMMMM good! If you want to taste authentic mexican food, this is the place! I have friends that have moved away but every time I go to visit them, they always request that I bring them a burrito from ""Tacos Morenos"" I don't leave town without a six pac of burritos. Very charming waite staff and I get to practice my spanish too!
