Review content:
I took my 2000 Hyundai Elantra to Dan at Pro Brake and Muffler in 2010. Originally I just needed a brake job on the rear brakes and to check where I had coolant leaking from. (I had the water pump replaced somewhere else about 1 year prior, so we didn't think that was it.) He did the brake job (including new shoes and drums) and said that the water pump was leaking, so he replaced that and the hoses, too (which gets quite expensive on a Hyundai). When I drove my car away I noticed that the brakes made a funny clunking noise and that the there was still coolant leaking. I took it back and he looked at the NEW drums he installed and he said they were misshapen, so he took them off, re-shaped them and put them back on. Now, one year later, I badly need my drums replaced AGAIN because they were not good parts! (Drums should last at least a few years.) As for the leaking coolant, he said oops, turns out it wasn't the water pump and hoses, it was actually just a little connector piece. (An oops that unnecessarily cost me about $500). He then magically discovered that I needed a new alternator (funny, since my car had no problems starting or maintaining power). So he replaced that, too. Six months later the new alternator he put in FAILED and I had to get it replaced. In all I spent over $1000 at Pro Brake and Muffler in the span of a few days, and literally EVERY task he performed on my car was either unnecessary, poorly done, or used bad parts. $1000 down the drain. I will NEVER take my car to him again.
