Review content:
About four weeks ago, I fractured my foot in three places and rolled my ankle. After going to the emergency room, I was sent to see an orthopedic surgeon. Apparently, unless you've had surgery, you cannot see a doctor at Glasson Sports Medicine. Initially, I was put in just a post op shoe and they refused to try putting me in a walking cast (or boot), which would have stabilized both my foot and ankle. In the post op shoe (which is nothing other than a flimsy shoe with a non flexible sole), I was in excruciating pain and was in tears (and I have a VERY high pain threshold) before even getting to the lobby. The next day, I went back and they put a cast on me. The nurse who put the cast on was really, really nice and I appreciated her care and attention. After only two weeks, they took the cast off, took new x-rays and determined that my foot was still fractured. However, the P.A. said he wouldn't put me into another cast and just to wear the post-op shoe. On top of that, he said that they no longer needed to see me back. It's been almost two weeks since I got my cast off and the pain has become excruciating again. I went to my PCP yesterday who confirmed that the cast came off WAY too early and judging by the swelling in both my foot and ankle that I needed to go see a doctor to discuss putting on another cast or get a ""boot"" and discuss physical therapy. She has referred me to another doctor to see next week. I am 27 years old, a Navy wife and mother of two toddlers so, needless to say, my lifestyle is an active one. I am extremely dissatisfied with the care I received at Glasson Sports Medicine. The only saving grace of this place are one or two nurses there. Otherwise, they are not military-friendly and if you are not an athlete, their bedside manner is less than caring. Unfortunately, this was where Tricare sent me. I would never, ever, ever recommend them to anyone and I think they need to take a step back, listen to their patients and actually take care of them. I am planning on writing a very strongly worded complaint letter to Tricare regarding this.
