I can't make sense out of what happened when my Cock-A-Poo lost 5 lbs' out of 17 while boarding at Riverview Kennel. I was in horror to see he was skin and bone when I picked him up after a long stay. I did not like leaving my dogs in any kennel for any length of time. Leaving the dogs with a dog caretaker in what I believed at the time to be a reputable kennel, was something I needed to do. As usual, an emergency number was left with the owner. However, I received no contact that my dog had developed symptoms of starvation or forewarning my dog had a serious problem. I called several times to check and ask if all was okay. I was reassured everything was okay. I know I would have come back had I known my dog was very sick. The owner failed to let me know my dog was seriously suffering with a possible life threatening condition. I was led to believe he was fine and doing okay. She said she went out to buy ""his kind of dog food"". I thought, that was very nice, even felt a little obligated she went out of the way. He was too emaciated. I had no clue something was wrong. I think the kennel Owner is a nice lady, probably meant well, with good intentions. It was a serious mistake not to directly contact me when she saw my dog was getting so sick. My dog's alarming condition indicated it was imperative he be seen by a vet to find out what was going on. There was a lapse in judgement that cost me dearly, not monetarily. Cons: BETTER COMMUNICATION NEEDED TO NOTIFY THE OWNER OF DOGS HEALTH CONDITION
